Citizens of Taraba State have been urged to tread with caution in this special season of Yuletide, as no celebration is worth the safety, peace and development of the state.

Governor Agbu Kefas, in a statewide broadcast to the people of the State to mark the 2025 Yuletide season, made the call at his country home in Wukari.

In a 15-minute-long broadcast, the governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating opportunities for prosperity, protecting lives and property of the people.

He extended warm greetings to the Christian faithful in the State, and reminded them of the need to spread the message of love, make sacrifices, keep hope alive and be peaceful in their conducts.

“Christmas is a time to reflect on our shared humanity, to renew our faith in God, and to strengthen the bonds that unite us as families, communities, and as one Taraba.

“As you celebrate, I urge everyone to do so with joy, gratitude, and caution.

“Let us protect lives, respect one another, and conduct ourselves responsibly on our roads, in our homes, markets, places of worship, and public spaces.

“Celebration must never come at the cost of safety or peace,” Governor Kefas said.

The governor assured the people that security will continue to top priority of his administration, and commended security agencies that were working closely with community leaders, traditional institutions, adding that local vigilance structures were fully deployed across the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free festive period.

“Their presence is to protect you, your families, and your livelihoods,” he stated.

He called on the people to accord security agencies the necessary support, and urged them to be law-abiding, stay vigilant, and should report any suspicious activity around them promptly.

“To our farmers, traders, workers, youths, women, elders, and our dear children that this government remains firmly committed to creating opportunities for prosperity, protecting lives and property, and also ensuring that Taraba continues to be a place of peace, harmony, and normal everyday life where people can work, worship, and engage in businesses without fear.”

He further called on people to “use this Christmas to forgive, to reconcile, to support the vulnerable, and to extend kindness to one another, regardless of tribe, religion, or status. Peace is our collective responsibility, and together we will sustain it,” Governor Kefas added.

He, therefore, wished the people a peaceful, safe, and joyful Christmas, and a renewed hope in the New Year.
