Former Zamfara State governor Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari (Marafan Sokoto) has donated cows, foodstuffs, and cash to Christians in the state to celebrate this year’s Christmas season. He urged them to use the festivities as an avenue to enhance national unity and cohesion and pray for continued peace and progress for Nigeria.
This was contained in a statement by the chairman Publicity Committee, Senator A A Yari Political Organisation, Ibrahim Muhammad (Danmadamin Birnin Magaji), and made available to newsmen in Gusau.
The statement said, Senator Yari, made the plea on Saturday while presenting 310 bags of 50kg rice, 16 cows and N1million to Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, APC Igbo and Yoruba Wings, Igbo and Yoruba Communities all in Zamfara State.
Represented by the federal commissioner, Federal Character Commission from Zamfara State, Alh. Sani Garba (General) at the event, Marafan Sokoto also emphasized the need for them to pray for good health and God’s guidance to the nation’s leaders, especially President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, so that the implementation of his administration’s policy thrust will be a huge success.
Receiving the items the chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, Zamfara State, Evangelist Michael Tajudeen Azeez Afolabi thanked the Marafan Sokoto for the gesture. He said it was not the first of its kind noting that they have been receiving gifts from him even after he left office as governor since 2019.
Evangelist Michael Afolabi pledged to reciprocate the gesture through prayers, solidarity and support to the donor and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In her remarks, chairperson of Zamfara State APC Igbo Wing, Mrs Collins prayed to God Almighty to reward the donor abundantly.
