The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has distributed over 1,000 bags of 25kg rice to the Christians in Bauchi State for this year’s Christmas celebration and to cushion the effects of the hardship.

Speaking during the flag-off of the distribution on Monday, Bauchi State coordinator of the Northern Christians Political Forum, Mr. Ayuba Umar Yelwa, commended the First Lady for the gesture, saying it would go a long way in supporting the Christian faithful in celebrating Christmas.

He said Mrs Tinubu also extended the same gesture to other northern states to support the less-privileged, vulnerable people and widows during the Christmas period.

He said: “On behalf of local government coordinators, we appreciate Her Excellency Mommy of Nigeria for what she has done to the Christian communities of 19 Northern States. She delivered 1,000 bags of 25kg rice to each state in all the 19 states to cushion the hardship that we are undergoing in the country.”

He commended the First Lady for the support and urged the local government coordinators to justify the gesture by reaching out to the levels of the widows, orphans and the less-privileged within the Christian community in their respective areas.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Elder Bukar Ilya expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu’s wife, saying that the rice donated to them will go a long way in alleviating current hardship faced by citizens.
