Prelate of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church (ESOCS) Worldwide, Dr. David Dabaye Lamjose Bob-Manuel, has called on Nigerian politicians to confront the economic hardship facing the citizens with sincerity and the fear of God.

At a press conference in Abuja to mark the church’s 100th anniversary, the cleric urged the leaders to prioritise policies that would improve the living conditions of ordinary Nigerians.

“As leaders freely elected by the people, you are expected to lead with the fear of God,” he said. “When the people are suffering, you must suffer with them. Leadership must show compassion and commitment to the welfare of those who elected you.”

He cautioned politicians against abandoning their campaign promises after assuming office, stressing that resources must be used responsibly to reduce hardship. He also appealed to citizens to support leaders with prayers while making God’s guidance central in choosing those who govern.
On the role of the church, Dr. Bob-Manuel said ESOCS does not engage in partisan politics but prays for politicians seeking elective office. He noted that while the leadership remains neutral, individual members are free to participate actively in politics.

cleric highlighted the church’s contributions to national development over the past century, including the establishment of schools and healthcare facilities. He disclosed that a modern hospital was recently commissioned in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and another will soon be inaugurated in Surulere, Lagos State.
