CITN Appoints Olasunkanmi As Registrar

The governing council of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) has appointed Dr. Musibau Lanre Olasunkanmi as the registrar and chief executive of the Institute, following the retirement of Mr Adefisayo Awogbade.

Olasunkanmi’s appointment takes effect from April 19, 2023. 

A statement from the CITN president, Chief Adesina Adedayo, described the appointment as an expression of confidence that the new registrar and chief executive would discharge his duties professionally which is the hall mark of the taxation profession.

Olasunkanmi, a Chartered accountant and Tax professional, was until his appointment was the deputy registrar, Corporate and Internal Services of the Institute.

He is a multidisciplinary professional with over 18 years of experience in Accounting, Taxation, Consulting, Forensic Auditing, Corporate governance, and Capacity Building. In 2010, he started a career at the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) as Assistant Manager, Finance & Accounts promoted to the position of Manager in the same year based on his outstanding performance in the department.

He left the Institute to join the Ekiti State government as Head of the Reconciliation unit, Fund Management in the Office of the State Accountant General, Ekiti State from 2012 to 2016.

Olasunkanmi’s performance stood out in 2017 among other applicants and he was reappointed to the Institute (CITN) as assistant director. He occupied this position till July 2020 when an organisational restructuring exercise was carried out in the Institute and this led to his appointment as the director, Internal Services. He was appointed in June 2021 as the deputy registrar, Corporate and Internal Services.

Lanre Olasunkanmi takes over from his predecessor Mr. Adefisayo Awogbade, who retired on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 after he had served the Institute for 12 years.
