City Boy Movement Targets 10 Million Youth Votes For Tinubu

The City Boy Movement, has unveiled plans to mobilise 10 million youth votes for President Bola Tinubu in the next general election, saying the target would be achieved through sustained grassroots engagement rather than online campaigns.

Director-General of the movement, Francis Shoga, disclosed this during the opening dinner of the City Boy Movement National Retreat held at the State House in Abuja.

According to Shoga, the ambitious target would require disciplined organisation and continuous engagement with communities across the country.

“Ten million votes will not come from slogans or social media. They will come from real people, real members, real engagement and hard work at the grassroots,” he said.

Shoga urged members to build a results-driven organisation capable of educating Nigerians on government policies while mobilising support at the ward and community levels.

In a statement signed by Otega Ogra, Deputy Director-General, Media, Communications & Public Affairs, City Boy Movement, said the retreat which brought together state coordinators, leaders and members of the movement from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, focused on strategies for strengthening grassroots mobilisation and civic engagement.

Also speaking, the Patron of the City Boy Movement, Seyi Tinubu, said the organisation had grown beyond its role as a campaign platform into a nationwide movement dedicated to national development and citizen engagement.

He charged members to intensify grassroots outreach in wards, local government areas, campuses, markets and communities, stressing that the movement should serve as a bridge between the government and the people.

“This movement must become not simply about defending government, but about reconnecting Nigerians with government,” he said.

Seyi Tinubu acknowledged that many Nigerians were still grappling with the effects of the Federal Government’s economic reforms but said signs of progress were beginning to emerge. He urged members to communicate government policies with empathy, facts and compassion.

The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Mariya Mahmoud, described nation-building as a collective responsibility and commended the City Boy Movement for promoting patriotism, unity and responsible citizenship.

She reaffirmed the commitment of the FCT Administration, under Minister Nyesom Wike, to delivering improved infrastructure, enhanced security, better public services and environmental renewal in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, also called for greater youth participation in governance, saying young Nigerians must move beyond being observers to becoming active contributors to national development.

“It is time for everyone in this country to hear the voice of the youth,” he said.

In his vote of thanks, the Co-Patron of the City Boy Movement, Kashim Shettima Junior, expressed appreciation to members and stakeholders for attending the retreat, describing the City Boy Movement as “the biggest youth political movement in Africa.”

He urged members to remain united and committed to expanding the movement’s grassroots reach in support of national development and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
