The General Overseer of Charismatic Renewal Ministries, Dr Cosmas Ilechukwu, has urged the Nigerian government to assemble a dedicated team of economists to confront the nation’s pressing challenges.

He made the call during a prayer service for Nigeria and its leaders, organised by the Ministry at the National Christian Center in Abuja yesterday.

Ilechukwu emphasised that an economic team free from political interference would help the country tackle its current issues.

“My advice to the government is to constitute a team of professional economists and give them the freedom to brainstorm solutions to Nigeria’s economic problems. Whatever they propose as a way forward should be adopted by the government without any political connotations.”

Commenting on the recent fuel price increase, he condemned the action, stating that there was no justification for the rise.

“Where are we investing the excess money we are collecting? We are even borrowing more, putting our country into deeper debt. I don’t believe that increasing the fuel price will solve the problem,” he said.

He also encouraged those considering leaving the country to be patient, asserting that tomorrow will be better.

“If we all run away, who will own this country? Who will work for it? Who will build it? I encourage everyone to be patient. It is difficult today, but I can see a better tomorrow,” he said.
