Senior pastor of New Christian Power Centre, Gwarinpa in Abuja, Rev Ajani Edeki, has charged Nigerians to live together in peace and harmony and continue to pray for the unity of the country.

Edeki made the appeal at a thanksgiving service to mark 50th anniversary of his marriage and 80th birthday in Abuja.

He said Nigerians must be united and hope for a better future, adding that religion has a critical role to play in the peaceful co-existence of the country.

The cleric therefore advised religious leaders to continue to preach peace and not violence to their members.

The double event was attended by members of the Police Community Relations Committee led by the national welfare secretary, Dr Nana Ngozi Dahiru, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) led by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chairperson, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), New Christians Power Centre International School-management and staffers and philanthropists amongst others.

He said, “At 80, I feel healthier than ever before. I thank God Almighty for making it possible for us to witness this great occasion, it can only be God and not humanity and I thank God for my good wife, she has stood firm for me in all my life. She is a woman of substance, who I can’t describe but simply say she is God’s gift for me. My gratitude goes to my children and grandchildren for their support. I cannot thank them enough.”

Speaking on compassion, he advised couples to value their spouses and to be patient with each other because it is only peace that can guarantee love. He added that they should not allow anything to affect their marriage which they have built together as one for many years.

The wife, Pastor  Mrs Amb. Charity Edeki also gave her own voice, thanking God for a day like this. She was happy and overwhelmed.
