Eminent Muslim clerics last Sunday gathered at the Old Ilorin Central Mosque, Idi-Ape, to offer special prayer for the Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The programme tagged ” Special prayer and thanksgiving service” was at the instance of the commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, Dr Afees Abolore Alabi.
While the prayer session was led by Imam Idi-Ape, Imam Mohammed Solihu Basahar, the thanksgiving session was jointly led by Sheikh Hamsat Yusuf Ayegbami and Sheikh Umar Faruq Shoibul Bayan.
Imam Idi-Ape told the gathering that the prayer was held with the consent and blessing of the Emir of Ilorin, Alh Ibrahim Sulu- Gambari.
He prayed Allah to grant Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq a successful tenure of office and greater heights after the completion of his second term of office.
Eminent personalities that graced the event included the representative of the Governor AbdulRazaq, Alh Saadu Salahu ( senior adviser/ counselor), non executive director of NNPCL, Dr Mohammed Ghali Alaaya, senior adviser on Media, Alh Bashiru Adigun, senior adviser on Special Duties, Alh AbdulRazaq Jiddah, and senior special assistant on Religion (Islam), Alh Ibrahim Danmaigoro.
The Magaji Are, Alh Aremu Zubair and the Baba Isale of Ilorin, led other traditional chiefs to the event.
Other attendees are Alh LAK Jimoh, president, Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alh AbdulMumini AbdulMalik, chairman, Ilorin East LG, Lukman Agbelere, Alh Iliasu Iponrin, Alh Baba Adefalu, Alh Baba Olosasa, Alh Mustapha Kobe, a member of Kwara State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alh Shuaib Kawu, a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon.Wahab Issa, focal person of NSIP in the state, Dr Rabiat Alabere, former chairman of Kwara Television Service, Alh Hameed Adio and regional editor of LEADERSHIP newspapers, Alh Abdullahi Olesin.
In his lecture, Sheikh Hamsa Yusuf Ayegbami said the governor is doing well.
“The governor is equitable and just. He should continue in that vein and should not allow any distraction in his avowed commitment to the development of the state.”
In another lecture, Sheikh Umar Faruq Shoibul Bayan, enjoined political office holders to be of good conduct and strive to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people they represent in government.
He also urged the people to always acknowledge the good work done by public office holders to encourage them to do more.
The cleric described Governor AbdulRazaq as a workaholic who is passionate about the development of the state and the welfare of the people.
The organisers of the prayer, Dr Afees Abolore Alabi, said the governor’s exemplary leadership style motivated him to orgasm the event.
Alabi said exception leaders like Governor AbdulRazaq need to be supported with prayer at all times for Allah’s continued guidance and protection.
He noted that the large turn out of the people for the prayer was testament to the good work the governor has been doing.
