The Dynamic Ebira Friends Club (DE-Friends Club), in partnership with KWADECO Pharmaceutical Nigeria Limited, has provided free medical treatment for over 700 persons in Okene, Kogi State.
At the closing ceremony of the exercise yesterday, the club’s national president, Mallam Enesi Ahmed, called on individuals and organisations to support quality healthcare as the government strives to serve the people.
Represented by his deputy, Alhaji Salihu Abdullahi, he stated that the state government had invested significantly in the health sector to provide quality healthcare to the people.
Ahmed said the government required the support of individuals and organisations to bring healthcare to the doorsteps of the underprivileged, especially those in rural communities.
He said, “The essence of the free medical care is to save lives, as recent developments show cases of sudden death and other diseases which can easily be identified and treated.
“It is on this note that our club has distributed free drugs and treated the sick for free. The club has also selected schools for a quiz competition, with the top three awarded scholarships to the university level.
“This gesture is to complement the efforts of the state government to lift the health sector in the state. Kogi State has invested so much in the health sector, and the government also requires organisations such as the Dynamic Ebira Club and others to support healthcare services in the state,” he said.
In his remarks, Dr Ismail Zubair, a medical doctor who coordinated the outreach, commended the club for giving back to society and promised that the drugs would be utilised for the benefit of the people.
