The Abuja Golden Lions Club, District 404A2 of Lions Clubs International, has honoured the Sa’ Karuyi of Karu, His Royal Highness Joseph Danfulani Narai (JP), with a Pin of Honour for his support for the club’s humanitarian activities.

The honour formed part of activities organised by the club on Saturday to commemorate the 2026 World Nature Conservation Day in Karu and Nyanya areas of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a statement issued by Moses Shodipe for the Media Team, Regions 1–4, the club said its members first paid a courtesy visit to the royal father’s palace in Gunya, Karu, where the traditional ruler was recognised as a distinguished member of the Abuja Golden Lions Club for his partnership and support.

During the visit, the Region 3 chairperson of Lions Clubs International, District 404A2, Mallam Anas Aminu Ibrahim, commended the monarch for his commitment to community development and collaboration with service organisations, describing his support as instrumental to the club’s humanitarian interventions in the area.

He added that members of the club, accompanied by other Lions from the Abuja Cluster, also inspected trees planted at the palace two months ago as part of tits environmental sustainability initiative. The inspection showed that the trees were growing well, a development the club said reflected its commitment to environmental conservation.

The delegation later visited Nyanya General Hospital, where it donated 50 bedspreads branded with the Abuja Golden Lions Club logo to the hospital’s Pediatric Ward.

According to the statement, the donation was a follow-up to an earlier intervention by the club, during which it renovated and repainted the Pediatric Ward to improve healthcare delivery and the welfare of patients.

The outreach was attended by the District Chief of Protocol, Lion Dr. Charles Bassey; Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms, Lion Alexandria Ogechi Ibezimako; Deputy Chief of Staff, Lion Tuji Ahmed Babagbemi; Immediate Past President, Lion Zaki Adamu Isaac; a past Deputy Chief of Staff; a past Zone Chairperson; and other senior members of the Abuja Golden Lions Club.

The club said the activities were in line with the Lions Clubs International motto, “We Serve,” and reaffirmed its commitment to implementing sustainable projects in healthcare, environmental conservation and community welfare across the Federal Capital Territory and beyond.
