The Coalition for Good Governance and Security (CGGS) has commended the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) for its neutral role in the off-cycle election in Imo, Kogi and Bayelsa States conducted over the weekend.
The coalition in a press release on Monday said the AFN kept to its promise to remain neutral as made by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa.
The National Coordinator of CGGS, Ishaku Aliyu, said that the noble role of the Armed Forces of Nigeria ensured the election was held with minimal security challenges.
The coalition also lauded the Chief of Defence Staff for his avowed support in deepening democracy in the country.

According to CGGS, “We are aware of the stern warning by the CDS that criminal tendencies during the election will not be condoned. We can say the AFN kept to its promise.
“Our investigation across the 3 states where the off-cycle election was conducted reveals that our military performed excellently well.
“Despite the attempt by some politicians to draw the military into what took place, we can give them credit for their neutrality.
“Once more, CGGS commends the CDS for this excellent outing,” the Coalition added.
