The Owerri Zone Awareness Coalition (OZAC) has called on the governor of Imo State, Hope  Uzodimma, to disregard political considerations and focus on appointing seasoned technocrats in his  new cabinet.

Following his second-term inauguration, Governor Uzodimma dissolved the State Executive Council comprising commissioners, special advisers and senior special assistants, with a promise to reconstitute the cabinet promptly.

OZAC, through a statement signed by the president general, Emmanuel Okwu, made available to LEADERSHIP, stressed the need for Imo State to have rapid development and urged the governor to select technocrats for key positions in his administration.

Okwo said the  governor’s vision for a prosperous Imo State can only be realised by seasoned technocrats and experts who have excelled in their various fields.

According to him, the  wheel of development in the state can only be propelled by a team of competent individuals committed to contributing their expertise to the state’s advancement.

“We strongly suggest that political hangers-on, who constituted a significant portion of Senator Hope Uzodimma’s Shared Prosperity administration in the first term, should give space to non-career politicians, allowing governance in Imo State to benefit from individuals with proven expertise.

“We advocate for a balanced approach to appointments, recommending fewer politicians and a greater emphasis on experts,” he said.

He advised Uzodimma to take a cue from President Bola Tinubu who appointed technocrats to sensitive federal ministries.
