An Abuja-based comedian, Washington, will headline the 2026 edition of his annual “Evolution of Washington” comedy show in tribute to women and their role as stabilising forces in the home and wider society.
The event, themed “Wetin Women Really Want 2,” is scheduled for March 8, 2026 to celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day.
Organisers said the show builds on the success of its inaugural edition held on March 9 last year, which also coincided with the global observance of International Women’s Day. This year’s outing is positioned as an expanded production, with a stronger focus on recognising women as champions of peace, resilience and social progress.
The event will feature a line-up of veteran musicians, established comedy acts, seasoned masters of ceremony and dance performers. In keeping with its theme, organisers disclosed that a greater number of female artistes have been enlisted to perform, underscoring the show’s emphasis on celebrating women’s voices and achievements across the creative industry.
Washington, whose real name is Ernest Anyanwu, is a master of ceremonies, skit maker and event host widely known in Abuja’s entertainment circuit. A member of the 26 Pals Development Initiative, he has anchored several high-profile social and corporate events in the Federal Capital Territory and built a reputation for audience engagement and stage presence.
Corporate support for the 2026 edition continues to grow with partners including D-Ben Real Estate, Al-Maruf Communications Concept, Aerial View Pharmacy Ltd, Wincorp Homes & Properties Ltd, Ol’Clare, Amanda Group and A.M.U Motors Nigeria Ltd, among others.
Speaking ahead of the show, Washington said the production is designed to spotlight women’s everyday sacrifices and contributions.
He said, “This show is about celebrating women as champions of peace in our homes and in society. We are building on the success of the first edition and raising the bar in terms of performances and participation.
“It is not just comedy; it is appreciation wrapped in entertainment. We want everyone who attends to leave with a deeper respect for what women truly represent in our lives and communities.”
