Commission Begins Promotion Exams For Bauchi LG Workers

Bauchi State Local Government Service Commission has commenced its 2026 promotion examination for employees in the 20 local government areas of the state.

The exercise, being conducted at the Examination Halls of the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP), Bauchi, is for officers on Grade Levels 08-09, 10-12 and 13 and above.

During an inspection of the venue yesterday, the chairman of the commission, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Wabi, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercis and commended both the candidates and officials for their preparedness.

Wabi said the commission conducts promotional examinations annually as part of its commitment to staff career advancement, professional development and improved efficiency in the local government service.
He said the commission had organised a two-day revision class for the candidates ahead of the examination to adequately prepare them for the exercise.

“Alhamdulillah, we are happy with the conduct of this year’s exercise. Before the examination, the Commission organised a two-day revision class to prepare the candidates adequately,” he said.
The chairman urged the candidates to give their best, assuring them that promotion would be based on merit, competence and strict compliance with civil service rules.

He also reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to ensuring fairness, transparency and credibility throughout the promotion process.

In his remarks, the permanent secretary of the Commission, Alhaji Kani Muhammad, commended the Bauchi State Government under the leadership of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for its continued support for staff development and career progression.

Kani urged the candidates to maintain discipline and integrity, warning them against examination malpractice.

“Promotion in the civil service is earned through hard work, commitment and integrity. This examination is designed to assess your capacity for higher responsibilities. I urge you to give your best and uphold the values of the service,” he stated.

The permanent secretary further assured candidates that the marking and processing of results would be conducted promptly, adding that promotions would be determined by performance, merit and availability of vacancies.

The chairman and permanent secretary, accompanied by senior officials of the Commission, inspected the examination halls and interacted with candidates to ensure its smooth conduct.

External invigilators and commission officials were also deployed to supervise the examination and ensure compliance with established guidelines, as well as maintain the credibility and transparency of the process.
