North East Development Commission (NEDC) has distributed essential food and non-food items to 2,261 households in Yobe State impacted by recent flooding.
The managing director of the NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, disclosed this during the flag-off of the exercise in three affected local government areas of the state.
He said that, the intervention was designed to meet the immediate needs and ease the living conditions of those adversely affected by the 2024 floods.
Represented by the NEDC Yobe State coordinator, Professor Ibrahim Abba, Alkali disclosed that, the relief effort targeted 21 communities in Potiskum, two in Nangere, and five in Jakusko local government area in the state.
According to him, the provisions were intended to address the urgent needs of those affected by the 2024 floods in their respective communities in the three councils.
He said the recent flooding has affected several households across the state, while Yobe State government reached out to the management of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for their support.
He adds that, ” I want to use this opportunity to inform you that, we are here today with SEMA officials to distribute food and non-food items to affected households.”
The chairmen from the affected areas, have commended the NEDC and Yobe State government for their usual support in addressing the plight of the flood victims in the state.
