The executive secretary of NSSEC, Dr. Iyela Ajayi, stated this while briefing journalists on his achievements and moves to reposition the Commission, in Abuja.

Ajayi said the ranking will be based on benchmark performance by the various schools, noting that the Commission had prepared a National Policy on Senior Secondary Education, which has gone through different stages.

According to him, the Commission had started a series of advocacy to the state governors for their buy-in into the vision of NSSEC to enable the various states to access the fund for the development of secondary education.

The executive secretary further
revealed that the state governors had already commenced the process of establishing their own state Senior Secondary Education Board.

“We all can attest to the fact that for a long time, this sun-sector was in total, hence the establishment of this commission by the immediate past administration of President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, to reposition the sector for efficiency in grooming students for global acceptable standard.

“The key mandate of the Commission is to prescribe and enforce Minimum Standard in all Senior Secondary Schools in the Country, and also serve as a regulatory and intervention agency in all our Senior Secondary Schools across the country,” he stated.
