The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has established a Project Verification and Payment Committee to oversee the payment process of completed projects in the region.
The initiative was disclosed in a post on the commission’s official X handle yesterday.
It said the decision followed a resolution reached at the 9th meeting of the commission’s 7th Governing Board on December 8, 2025.
The committee is expected to verify all completed infrastructure, electrification, environmental, desilting and water supply projects from inception to January 2023, for inclusion in the Directorate of Finance and Accounts’ digitised platform to enable electronic payments.
The move, the commission said, was in line with the federal government’s directive mandating ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to digitalise their operations and go paperless by December 31, 2025.
The verification is therefore aimed at capturing relevant project data in the commission’s electronic database to facilitate payments.
The committee is chaired by the executive director, Finance and Administration, Alabo Boma Iyaye.
Other members are the executive director, Projects, Sir Victor Antai; director of Project Monitoring Service, Engr. Gbenga Omowanle; director of Finance and Administration, Mrs Kunemofa Asu and director of Internal Audit, Mr Lucky Ogbuji. The director of Legal Services, Mr Victor Arenyeka, will serve as secretary.
