The commissioner made the declaration during the World Cultural Day with the theme, “Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.” World Cultural Day is a UNESCO convention for cultural diversity.

“Today is dedicated to recognising and cherishing the rich tapestry of traditions, arts, beliefs and values that define our humanity. Culture is indeed the heartbeat of every society and it’s the thread that weaves together our history, our language, our music, our arts, and our collective memories,” he said.

Addressing stakeholders from the Tourism, Hospitality and Cultural sectors including traditional rulers, the commissioner highlighted the benefits of collaboration in preserving cultural identities which provides a sense of belonging for continuity amid constant changes of the modern world.

Barr Egemba stressed that culture plays a pivotal role in the lives of people and the society in general and operates as a means of accumulating, storing and transmitting human experiences and exposition.
