The Commonwealth Foundation has opened calls for someone for its first-ever virtual Commonwealth Quilt project.
Held in partnership with Commonwealth Poet Laureate Selina Tusitala Marsh, who is writing a patchwork of 56 poems for all commonwealth countries, artistes and creative enthusiasts are encouraged to submit artworks – be it visual, literary, or performative pieces that ‘thread’ and complement Marsh’s poetic lines:
“Together, piece by piece by peace, we are one. But a quilt is never done. It’s passed down and carried on. Each generation threads its own. Each one’s story must be sewn.”
So, what will you thread?
Dancers can thread movements between bodies, musicians can thread melody through rhythm, painters can thread colours, storytellers can thread narrative (stories), and photographers can thread light. Hence, everyone artistes and especially non-artistes, those who love to express themselves creatively are called to apply.
Original works spanning visual (painting, digital art, photography, illustration, textiles), literary art (poetry, prose, short stories), performing arts (Song, music video, rap, dance, or movement), and short film (creative story and documentary), must be submitted on or before May 9, 2026, via registration on the Commonwealth Foundation website.
As many as three creative submissions will be selected as winners per region, awarded £200 each, and featured in a physical exhibition in Antigua and Barbuda.
