A powerful coalition of stakeholders of Bauchi Concerned Citizens have thrown their weight behind a former Upstream Investment Officer of NNPCL, Dr. Bala Maijama’a Wunti, urging him to contest the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The group, under the aegis of Bala Wunti Movement 2027, with members across 20 local government areas of Bauchi, said this in a communique signed by Liman Bello and issued to journalists in Bauchi yesterday at the end of their meeting.
After extensive deliberations, the coalition unanimously resolved to call on Dr. Wunti to heed what they described as an “overwhelming demand” from the people of Bauchi to seek the governorship seat.
According to the communique the decision followed wide-ranging consultations that highlighted Dr. Wunti’s humility, philanthropy, and proven leadership qualities. His passion for education, healthcare, agriculture, security, and economic reform were also cited as compelling reasons for the endorsement.
“That, Dr. Bala Maijama’a Wunti should, as a matter of urgency, answer the overwhelming call of good people of Bauchi State to come and contest the seat of Governorship of the state.
“That, Dr. Bala should contest under the auspices of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“That, Dr. Bala should agree to come and salvage the state by contributing his quota in addressing the problems in education, health, agriculture and economy.
“That, it is the general opinion of the forum that Dr. Bala is the most qualified and capable person to address the problems bedeviling the state,” the communique read in part.
Speaking at the gathering, participants expressed optimism that Dr. Wunti’s emergence would mark a turning point for Bauchi, especially in tackling pressing challenges that have slowed development in key sectors.
The forum further expressed its sincere hope and prayer that Dr. Wunti would not ignore the call to service, stressing that his leadership was needed to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the majority of Bauchi citizens.
