Some concerned citizens of Bauchi State have launched a citizen-driven political group known as ‘Kaura Force Movement,’ to support Governor Bala Mohammed developmental agenda.

At a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat yesterday to unveil the initiative, Mohammed Bello Maiwada said the movement was not just a political platform but a broad coalition of citizens committed to protecting the developmental progress recorded in Bauchi State and strengthening democratic participation across Nigeria.

According to him, the movement brings together youths, professionals, community leaders, civil society advocates, and grassroots supporters who share a common commitment to democratic accountability and sustainable development.

Maiwada explained that the Kaura Force Movement stands for the protection of democratic mandates, defence of credible leadership, grassroots political mobilisation, responsible civic engagement, and sustained social and economic progress.

Maidawa who spoke on behalf of the movement, described Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed as a tested statesman, experienced administrator, and a courageous advocate for democratic accountability in Nigeria.

“His leadership philosophy is rooted in performance, fairness, and the belief that governance must deliver tangible improvements in the lives of citizens,” Maiwada stated.

He said evidence of the governor’s leadership is visible across the state through strategic infrastructure development, strengthened public institutions, economic empowerment programmes for youths and women, and deliberate investments in education, healthcare, and social welfare.

According to him, Bauchi State has moved from years of limited development to a period characterised by renewed progress, stability, and growing national recognition under the present administration.

Maiwada also highlighted the governor’s commitment to inclusive governance, noting that his administration reflects the diversity of Bauchi State and the wider Nigerian federation by appointing professionals and technocrats from different ethnic and regional backgrounds based on merit and competence.

“This approach reinforces the belief that national cohesion and fairness must always prevail over narrow political interests,” he said.

He added that the governor has also demonstrated a strong commitment to religious harmony and peaceful coexistence through continuous engagement with Islamic, Christian, and traditional leaders.

“As a result, Bauchi State remains one of the most politically stable and peaceful states in Nigeria,” he added.

Maiwada emphasised that the governor focuses more on governance and development rather than political theatrics, which, according to him, explains the sustained public confidence in his leadership across communities and grassroots networks.

He further stated that the governor’s political strength is deeply rooted in the trust and support of the people, noting that his influence remains formidable even beyond traditional party structures.

The movement also announced that whenever Governor Bala Mohammed decides to contest for any political office in the future, Kaura Force will take responsibility for purchasing his nomination form and providing at least 50 percent of the mobilisation and campaign logistics required at either the state or national level.

Commenting on the ongoing political developments within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Maiwada said the internal disagreements currently affecting the party stem from prolonged leadership disputes that ideally should have been resolved through dialogue and institutional discipline.

He noted that the unresolved conflicts have created uncertainty within what remains one of Africa’s largest opposition political platforms.

According to him, the Kaura Force Movement believed that democracy requires strong and vibrant opposition parties, warning that any attempt to weaken opposition politics in Nigeria could undermine democratic stability and national balance.

Maiwada added that if Governor Bala Mohammed decides to take any political position regarding his party affiliation in the future, such a decision would remain within his constitutional rights as a citizen of Nigeria and would be guided by democratic principles and the national interest.

He said the governor’s leadership, courage, and developmental record in Bauchi State have earned him respect far beyond the state.

“Across Nigeria, many observers increasingly recognise in him the qualities of a national bridge-builder, a defender of democratic values, and a leader capable of contributing meaningfully to the future direction of the country,” he said.

The movement reaffirmed its unwavering loyalty to the vision, leadership, and progressive ideals of Kauran Bauchi, while pledging continued support for policies that promote development, unity, and democratic growth.
