Africa’s technology and business leaders are set to gather in Lagos later this month to address the critical gap between ambitious digital policy and practical implementation, particularly in the context of the continent’s sweeping push toward digital tax administration.
The CIO & C-Suite Conference 2025, scheduled for November 22, will bring together Africa’s top CIOs, CTOs, CFOs, CCOs, CROs, CDOs, and other C-suite executives alongside policymakers and digital pioneers to exchange practical insights on building more intelligent, more agile systems for a rapidly changing business environment.
The one-day event is zeroing in on “The Digital Tax Shift,” a subject dominating boardrooms continent-wide, where governments are leveraging technology to enhance revenue collection and compliance.
“The promise is clear. Technology adoption in tax administration improves compliance, reduces collection costs, and increases revenue.”
While Rwanda’s Electronic Single Window and Kenya’s iTax platform serve as successful examples, Nigeria has followed suit with TaxPro Max, which was launched in 2021. As of August 1, 2025, enterprises with turnovers exceeding N5 billion have been mandated to adopt real-time e-invoicing.
The legislation is in place, the platforms are live, but a critical question remains: Are organisations adopting the right technology, and do they have the systems, skills, and strategies to make these reforms truly work?
Under the theme “Tax Meets Tech: Africa’s Leap to a Digital Economy,” the conference aims to generate practical insights on building more agile systems. The speaker lineup features key thought leaders, including Ayodele Subair, the executive chairman of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), who will deliver the keynote address on ‘Building a Smart Tax Ecosystem.’
Other notable speakers include the CEO of the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS), Premier Oiwoh, and Tax Partner at Deloitte, Olukunle Ogunbamowo.
The conference will conclude with the CIO & C-Suite Awards Night, recognising individuals and organisations who have demonstrated excellence in driving digital transformation and leadership across various sectors.
