Concerned people of the Nangere/Potiskum federal constituency in Yobe State have decried the discrepancies in the  result sheet at the Ngojin Alaraba ward.

A civil society observer, Adedayo Omole, emphasised that against the wish of the police area commander officially sent to oversee the conduct, a superior officer of the rank of deputy commissioner of police was hurriedly sent to replace the area commander who stood for truth and fairness.

He said the taking over by the DCP who came with contingents of mobile police officers forced the returning officer, a professor, to make announcement under duress and against his wish because he was threatened .

Another eye witness, Muntari Yunusa said what transpired at the polling unit was completely against the provisions of the electoral act.

According to him, in one of the result sheets, a clear alteration from 13 to 113 could be clearly seen.

He said; “The electorate are therefore calling for the cancellation of the result of the ward for fairness. As most PDP result sheets were cancelled leaving that of the APC.

“The collation for that particular ward was made at INEC office instead of the known and approved CABS, college of administrative and business studies Potiskum.

“If a decent police officer could be changed with a bias one, where then is the rules of engagement of the police?

“In conclusion the independent electoral commission should please look into it and also sought for their returning officer’s view on how he was forced to announce result.

“Yobe is a sensitive state where insecurity is also taking its flesh  in some parts on some people, a political miscalculation and mingling is capable of breaching the peace in the affected areas.”
