Hon. Sumi made the commitment while receiving a delegation from the ministry during a courtesy visit to his office at the Council Chambers yesterday.

Describing the proposed project as a timely and commendable initiative, the chairman said the centre, once realised, would address key challenges faced by women in the community.

He emphasised that it would provide a platform for women to showcase their talents, enhance their livelihoods, and strengthen their contributions to local development.

He further commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for initiating the project, stating that it aligns with the broader goals of women empowerment and community transformation.

Surveyor Sumi assured the visiting team of the council’s unwavering support for all ministry-led initiatives aimed at uplifting the status of women.

For his part, the leader of the delegation, Alhaji Sirajo Jibrin, thanked the chairman for his hospitality and continued support for the ministry’s programmes.

He particularly appreciated the council’s efforts in securing a site for the construction of the Women Development Centre.

Alhaji Jibrin said that the proposed centre would serve as a hub for women empowerment through skill acquisition, health awareness, entrepreneurship training, and promotion of gender equality.

He added that the project is expected to improve the economic status of women and their families, thereby fostering sustainable development within the community.
