The National Council on Agriculture and Food Security (NCAFS) has commended Olam Integrated Feed and Protein (IFP) for its role in advancing Nigeria’s food system transformation.

The commendation came during the Council’s annual summit held in Kaduna, where members reaffirmed their commitment to achieving national food sovereignty and strengthening the country’s agricultural sector.

NCAFS, the apex policy-making and coordinating body for agriculture in Nigeria, comprises federal and state ministries of agriculture, development partners, research institutions and private sector stakeholders. The Council is driving initiatives aimed at reducing reliance on food imports and ensuring nationwide access to safe and nutritious food.

As part of the summit activities, the Minister of Agriculture, Senator Abubakar Kyari; Minister of State for Agriculture, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullah; Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Marcus Olaniyi Ogunbiyi; and all 36 state Commissioners of Agriculture visited Olam’s IFP facility in Kaduna on November 5, 2025.

The visit was to acknowledge Olam’s contribution to agricultural growth through its operations across the value chain, including feed milling, poultry production, rice processing, grain trading and animal protein development.

Amit Agarwal, Olam Agri’s IFP Business Head, led the delegation on a tour of the facility and briefed them on its operational capacity, layout and future growth plans.

The Council praised Olam’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, describing the company as a model for effective private sector participation in strengthening Nigeria’s food systems.

The engagement also reinforced NCAFS’s commitment to promoting public-private partnerships to boost agricultural development and enhance food security across the country.
