Councillors Impeach LG Chairman In Kebbi

Barely two weeks after the chairman of Aliero local government area in Kebbi State, Salihu Auwal Aliero, was impeached from office by councillors, the chairman of Arewa local government area, Sani Aliyu Tela, has been removed from office by 11 councillors.

In a letter addressed to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Local Government Service Commission by council leader, Hon Isyaku Saidu, the councillors said they removed the Tela government under section 19 sub- section 2 and 3 of the Local Government Law 2008.

They said Tela was also sacked for highhandedness and refusal to call council meetings and took part in anti-party activities against the ruling party the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We sat down on April 5 where we discussed all these problems and reasons and communicated them to the chairman but he ignored them, “ Hon Saidu said.
