The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has affirmed Dr Agbo Major as the authentic leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Delivering the judgement yesterday, Justice M.A Hassan of the FCT High Court held that the court has no jurisdiction to adjudicate on the matter.

He emphasised that the judicial system is only vested with the authority to rule on issues concerning nomination of election candidates, not leadership disputes.

Justice Hassan said, “The courts have consistently maintained that internal party leadership issues are non-justiciable, as reaffirmed by both the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. Consequently, I have no option but to dismiss this suit for lack of jurisdiction.”

The ruling put to rest the long dispute between the Kwankwanso-led faction and affirmed that, NNPP remains under the leadership of Dr Agbo Major.
