An Osun State High Court headed by Justice Adedapo Adeniji in Ile-Ife has sentenced three persons to death over conspiracy, armed robbery and murder.
The convicts, Jelili Kareem, Oludayo Oludele and Awodeji Muyiwa, robbed and killed one Adebayo Mukaila on January 28, 2020, at Omo West Area of Osogbo, the state capital.
They were arraigned on the offences bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery, murder and unlawful possession of firearms that were contrary to and punishable under section 324 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 34, Vol 2, Laws of Osun, 2002.
Section 6(b) and punishable under section 1(2) (a) & (b) of the Robbery & Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap RII, and section 27(1)(b)(ii) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap. R11, Law of Nigeria, 2004.
The state prosecutors, Mr. Muyiwa and Mrs Ibukun Adeoye, called four witnesses and tender exhibits in support of the case while Mr Adesina Olaniyan, Adedokun M.O., Folashade Ipede and Sulaiman Akano, who represented the convicts called no additional witnesses but defended their clients.
In his judgement, Justice Adedapo Adeniji held that the prosecution team proved all the ingredients of the offences against the defendants beyond reasonable doubt.
He consequently, found them guilty of the offences, convicted them and sentenced them to death but discharged Anifowose Buliaminu, who was charged for receiving stolen property for want of prosecution.
