Do you know what a CPR is? Do you know what to do in the face of an emergency? What is an emergency? Definition According to Oxford Languages defines emergency as a serious, unexpected and often dangerous situation requiring immediate action.

I never forget the definition of First aid from our Social Studies class or was it Health Education? Do we still have those in our curriculum? Well from that class, I understood very well that First aid is the first treatment given to a sick person (who must have sustained an injury or is very ill all of a sudden or in an emergency) before the arrival of a doctor. How many of us know what to do before the doctor arrives? This is a needed skill.

We are in a time where knowledge is at our disposal yet we have many people running the other way when we find an epileptic person experiencing seizures.

When the right thing to do is to stay calm, help them stay out of danger by keeping sharp objects out of reach to keep them from injuries, timing the seizures, making sure to roll them on their side and being there to reassure them after the seizures are over.

Being a little prepared for medical emergencies and being aware of what to do is better than having no knowledge about it.

“CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) is an emergency lifesaving procedure performed when the heart stops beating, aimed at maintaining blood circulation and breathing, in a person who is in cardiac arrest. Knowledge of CPR and general first aid skills provides an invaluable lifelong skill. It is an added value to anyone. Being a problem solver, not only in your field of study but also in an emergency situation is truly an invaluable skill. CPR and First aid training are essential at the workplace, home front and anywhere an emergency need arises. These are the reasons why you need to upgrade your skill set with CPR and First aid training.

Seven reasons why you need these skills are:
