The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) has initiated digitisation and standardisation of freight logistics services, which it described as a bold step towards creating a uniform, tech-enabled and efficient national logistics framework.

The registrar of CRFFN, Kingsley Igwe, who stated this at a press briefing in Abuja over the weekend, called on freight forwarders across the country to embrace digitisation as the world is moving faster and manual operations will no longer be sustainable.

Igwe further stated that about 75 per cent of freight operations in Nigeria are done manually and the move to digitisation is now a necessity for survival and relevance in the current global logistics environment, especially with the national single window set to take off in the first quarter of 2026.

While listing some of the milestones achieved by CRFFN, Igwe said the agency had launched the CRFFN free nationwide capacity building programme, training thousands of freight forwarders on global best practices, regulatory compliance and digital tools at no cost to the participants; engaged stakeholder across seaports, airports, and border stations, fostering unity, rebuilding confidence and aligning operational practices with regulatory mandates.

He further called for unity and support among members, noting, “We cannot overstate the need for unity among the players in the freight forwarding profession and associations at this critical juncture. The industry stands at the edge of transformative growth, but only through cooperation, discipline, and shared vision can we achieve its full potential.

“Associations must avoid divisive politics, misinformation, and unilateral actions that undermine progress.

We urge all players to support the council’s work and rally around the reforms currently being implemented. Now is not the time to regress, it is the time to consolidate and advance our collective interests with a unified voice.”

As part of the programme, the chief executive of  Zenith Carex Logistics Limited, Dr. Adelana Olamilekan, presented an award to the minister of marine and blue economy who was represented by the registrar of CRFFN for his  support on the growth of freight business in Nigeria.

The head, Abuja Liaison office of CRFFN, Arikewuyo Romoke Rafiat, said CRFFN had resolved all pending and legal issues impeding the growth of the organisation and is ready for progress now.

She said the organisation was no longer encumbered by internal wrangling or policy confusion as it had developed and was now operating under structured administrative processes that prioritise transparency, accountability and responsiveness.
