Aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State have dragged the party before the Federal High Court sitting in Dutse, seeking an injunction to halt the conduct of the local government and state congresses.

The plaintiffs, represented by Barrister Dahiru Sheikh Mujaddadi and another member, filed the suit before Hon. Justice Hassan Dikko, challenging the state PDP and four others over preparations for the congress.

Court documents obtained revealed that the suit, marked FHC/DT/CS/19/2025, lists the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Umar M. Bature (PDP National Publicity Secretary), Alhaji Abdulillah Ali Diginsa (former state party chairman), H.E. Sheriff Abdullahi (Chairman, Jigawa State Local Government Congress Electoral Committee), and Hon. Bello Isyaku (Chairman, LG Congress Electoral Appeal Committee, Jigawa State) as defendants.

During the court session on  May 20, 2025 Hon. Justice Hassan Dikko adjourned the case to May 28, 2025 for mention.

Speaking to journalists after the proceedings at the Three Arms Zone in Dutse, one of the aggrieved members, Hon. Abba Anas Adamu, explained that they resorted to legal action to address alleged irregularities and blatant violations of the party’s constitution in the congress preparations.

Adamu, who identified himself as former chairman  Committee on Justice and Privileges in the National House of Assembly, stated that their faction seeks justice and fair hearing, alleging that the party’s guidelines and constitution were disregarded,

He claimed that the ward and local government executive congresses were marred by irregularities, conducted in private residences, while state-level elections were mere appointments.

Adamu alleged that, PDP in Jigawa state has been hijacked and turned into personal enterprise, and no any member’s opinion or right is regarded except what master dictated.

“We are optimistic that, court will nullify what ever conducted illegally, unconstitutionally in the name of local government and state Congress ”  Abba Anas stated.
