Indigent students of the Nigeria Law s
School from Cross River Central Senatorial District of Cross River State have expressed joy over Senator Eteng Williams’ scholarship empowerment scheme for underprivileged law school students in his constituency.
Eteng, the Senator representing Cross River Central senatorial district had during the electioneering campaigns, promised not to only make laws for good governance, but collaborate with relevant agencies to alleviate his constituents’ suffering and engage in poverty reduction schemes across all the political wards in his senatorial district.
Upon assumption of office in June 2023, the federal lawmaker embarked on social intervention programmes to provide succour to his constituents.
The latest of his empowerment scheme was the scholarship grant to 21 indigent law students from across the six local government areas that make up Cross River Central Senatorial District.
He urged the students to remain focused, dedicated, hard working and make Cross River Central Senatorial District proud by coming out with excellent results.
Lauding the legislator, the President, Law Students Association of Cross River Central Senatorial District, Geda Asikong, and the association’s Secretary, Obasesam Itam, in a statement signed by the duo, stressed that the payment of N200,000 to each 21 Law School student by the lawmaker for the current academic session, was a display of kindness which Senator Eteng Williams is known for.
“Your significant contribution will lighten the financial burden being faced by our parents and us as students.
‘It will pave the way for us to focus more on our educational pursuits in order to achieve our goals at the Nigerian Law School seamlessly,” the Law students’ statement read.
The beneficiaries lauded Eteng for coming to their aid, assuring that they would make the use of the scholarship and strive towards academic excellence at the Nigerian Law School.
