Cross River Gov Proceeds On 3-Week Annual Leave

Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu has commenced a three-week annual leave, beginning from Tuesday March 11 to April 8, 2025.

The Governor has communicated the leave to the Cross River State House of Assembly which has consented to the notice.

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Nsa Gill who disclosed this in an interactive session with journalists on Tuesday in Calabar, the state capital, the deputy governor will act in the absence of his principal.

The letter dated March 10, 2025, by the Governor and addressed to the Speaker, Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem stated, “In accordance with constitutional requirements, I am required to notify the House of Assembly of my intention to proceed on annual leave.

“I wish to inform you of my intention to proceed on a three-week annual leave, commencing from Tuesday, March 11, to Tuesday, April 8, 2025. During this period, I will be unavailable to attend to my official duties.”

The CPS said that the leave was necessary to enable the governor have a rest.

Governor Otu added that arrangements had been made to ensure smooth operation of government while he will be away.

“I have made the necessary arrangements to ensure the smooth operation of government business during my absence. The Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dr. Peter Odey, will act on my behalf and make decisions as necessary,” the governor said.

He further added that the State House of Assembly has read and accepted the communication accordingly.
