The programme, executed under the auspices of Kyautata Rayuwa, aimed to provide immediate emergency response to vulnerable families in the state.

Addressing the graduates, the acting programme manager at CRS, Clinton Ofoegbu, expressed delight at the development, adding that the testimonies from the volunteers would serve as a source of joy for him.

Outlining the objectives of the initiative, the lead promoter of the care group volunteers in Wamakko local government, Hussaina Mohammed, stated that they were trained using the care group model and adopted a community-based approach to promote essential maternal, infant and young child nutrition behaviours at the household level.

While acknowledging that the care group model had fostered sustainable behavioural change in rural communities, the Wamakko lead promoter urged the volunteers to maintain their momentum by continuing to work tirelessly to improve the nutritional and health outcomes for women and children in the state.

Sokoto State director of international cooperation, Alhaji Musa Muhammad Wamakko, who represented the commissioner for budget and economic planning, Abubakar Zayanna, appealed to women in the state to always support their husbands.
