The Integrity Advocacy for Development Initiative (IADI), has partnered with the National Agency for the Great Green Wall (NAGGW), as part of robust efforts to conserve and protect natural resources with the view of achieving development and eradicating poverty.
The CSO also aims to share views on the landslide achievements of NAGGW concerning salvaging land decline due to climate change and poor land management.
Executive director, IADI, comrade Christopher Ofomhi, during a roundtable engagement on sustainable ecosystem management and development yesterday in Abuja, said the role that the natural resources and endowments of any nation play in the economic growth of the nation cannot be overemphasised, especially as it helps to purify the air and balance the ecosystem.
He said that the adverse effects of the ozone layer perforation on climate change which has further wrecked dire consequences on global bio-stability was a cause of grave concerns to governments world over and hence the need for this roundtable today.
Speaking on the theme of the roundtable: “The Importance of Natural Resources Management in the Economic Development of Nigeria’: The role of NAGGW, he said the overall goal of this gathering is to create an avenue for NAGGW to interact with the CSOs and to project their key objectives and achievements as well as the challenges with a view to fostering future partnership with CSO’s on the propagation of its core mandate.
He said this will stir increased awareness of the efforts and programs so far, galvanize increased cooperation of the Nigerian people with the leadership and staffs of the agency across all the geopolitical zones of the country.
“For us at Integrity Advocacy for Development Initiative, we believe that a nation’s development is built on the inclusive engagement of all stakeholders in the development process. So the round table is a veritable tool to put Nigeria on her path to inclusive development,” he added.
