Former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yekeni Nabena, has chided presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, for attempting to rub President Bola Tinubu in the mud over his Chicago State University certificate.

According to Nabena, Nigerians have moved on with the leadership of President Tinubu, and the former vice president cannot wield the nation back to the desert.

The APC chieftain said all the noise about Chicago State University certificate is a pre-election matter that has been forgotten.

In a statement he issued yesterday in Abuja, Nabena asked Atiku to rather start preparations for another contest in 2027  as usual rather than dragging the nation backward.

He noted that contrary to media propaganda by Atiku and opposition parties, the registrar of Chicago State University (CSU) Caleb Westberb never said President Tinubu forged the certificate he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Nigeria.

He urged the public to be careful of manipulative reports being churned out by the opposition to cause confusion and seek public sympathy.

He noted that Nigeria is a sovereign state and until the highest court of the land says otherwise, President Tinubu is still the legitimately elected president and will continue to pilot the affairs of the country.

He called on party members, supporters of the president and all Nigerians to disregard all attempts by the opposition parties to create unnecessary tension and make the country ungovernable.

Nabena also drew attention of Nigerian justices and the Supreme Court to the contempt of court by Atiku against the matter already in court.
