Nigerian businessman and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana ChiefPriest, has come to the defence of content creator Peller after a dramatic encounter with American streamer iShowSpeed in Lagos sparked online debate.

Videos circulating on social media show the chaotic moment Peller attempted to approach iShowSpeed’s moving convoy, climbing onto the streamer’s vehicle in a bid to propose a collaboration. Security personnel intervened, pulling Peller away as he shouted, “Please, I’m a streamer. I’m big. Let’s do something together!”

Undeterred, Peller later chased the convoy on horseback, still trying to get iShowspeed’s attention but the latter snubbed him, a spectacle that has since divided opinions online. While some Nigerians praised the American streamer’s tight security and professionalism, others empathised with Peller’s bold persistence.

Reacting to the incident in an Instagram post, Cubana ChiefPriest condemned the mockery directed at Peller, urging Nigerians to support rather than ridicule ambitious young talents.

“Why do we like to tear down our own brother’s hustle or energy?” Cubana ChiefPriest wrote. “Small boy like Peller dey hustle him way to meet Speed wey dey at the top for the business wey him dey do, una use am dey mock am. There is no shame in hustle. I celebrate Peller’s energy to achieve his dream.”

He further argued that Peller’s determination was admirable and reflective of a strong work ethic.

“Now you guys see why he is bigger than most of you, because he is ready to push shamelessly,” he continued. “Speedy dey Naija but na Peller dey trend. Una no really cherish una own. All you want is to bring your own down so you can mock and laugh at the person, but indirectly you are pushing the person up.”

Cubana Chiefpriest also defended Peller’s approach as part of the realities of the streaming industry.

“Streaming is a game of shamelessness,” he said. “At the end of the day, are you not entertained? Peller will never stop being big because the hunger is there. Let him cook. If you follow Speed’s stream, he gets rejected too, so what’s the big deal? The ignore from Speed to Peller is deliberate, he knows the boy. It’s a management issue. The push from Peller is amazing; that’s how you go for what you want. Above all, never shy away from rejections, they must come. Keep pushing for the top.”

As of press time, neither iShowSpeed nor his management team has publicly addressed the incident.
