Cultivate Passion For Sports To Foster National Devt, Youths Urged

Youths in the country have been urged  to develop interest in sporting activities with a view to showcasing their talents for national development.

The president of a political pressure group, ‘Omodoko Rescue Movement for Muri/Abenemi 2023’, Comrade Hassan Obaka made the call at media parley in Abuja ahead of Muri Unity football tournament slated for next month in Kogi State.

He said aside the employment opportunity which sporting activities provide, it played significant roles in enhancing good health and recreation, it also served as means through which nefarious activities of social miscreants could be reduced in the society.

According to Obaka, the competition was designed to promote unity among youth for the overall interest of Kogi State.

Obaka who commended retired Colonel Suleiman Babanawa, the founder of Babanawa Football Club, for making some of the youth to discovered their talent in the country, stressed the need for stakeholders to always expose the youth to sports which will go along way to encourage development of sports in kogi state and the nation at large.

Omodoko Rescue Movement for Muri/ Abenemi 2023 expressed confidence on Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for November 11 Governorship election in Kogi State, Alhaji Murtala Ajaka, if elected will focus more on youth empowerment particularly in the area of sport activities which remain a major mechanism to mitigate youth restiveness, create jobs and promote healthy living among citizens.

The Group assured participants cutting across 21 local governments of the state of a peaceful and exciting games, adding that adequate arrangements have been made for hitch-free events.
