“We must build stronger customs. When we offer service, I enjoin all of us to be very excellent, to do the very best that we can do to the service of our father land,” Adeniyi said yesterday at the decoration ceremony of the newly appointed officers of the NCS.

Those who were decorated are DCG DCG Festus Okun, DCG Musa Baba Abdullahi and DCG Albashir Hamisu. Others are: ACG Kamardeen  Olumoh, ACG Auwal Baba Mohammed and ACG Adeogun Alajogun.

The CG told the newly elevated officers that their appointment by President Bola Tinubu is a call to higher responsibility, more dedication and commitment to the service of the organisation.

He also said that the appointment is a recognition of the fact that some officers are toiling and doing their best to enhance the glory of the service and development of the service that will generate the revenue for the development of the nation. “This is in recognition of your past efforts.”

“We know that there is high expectation on the Nigeria Customs Service, especially at this period of economic downturn.

We know that there is much the customs can do to reinvigorate the economy, create more impetus and drive economic activities nationwide.

“This promotion is a call for better, more hard work, more dedication and commitment to the part of all our officers,” he stated.

For the customs boss, officers of the NCS now need to live up to the ideals of the name of the service. He charged them to live up to what the society expects from them, adding that customs officers are supposed to be offering service to the nation both at the airports, seaports and everywhere their services are required.

Each of the units these new officers are going to head are very strategic to the overall vision of the Nigeria Customs Service. Adeniyi told the new appointed officers that wherever they find themselves after the deployment, they must be conscious of the fact that their beat must contribute to the overall realisation of the vision of NCS.

“We are going to anchor what we are doing on the three pillars of consolidation on the progress we have made in the last eight years. There exists an opportunity for us to bring innovations into the administration of customs, into our processes and procedures,” he stated.

DCG Okon who spoke on behalf of the decorated officers said he and his appointees are committed to driving the visions of the service towards attainment of the targeted goals. “We promise to work based on the confidence reposed on us,” he said while appreciating President Tinubu and the Ag. CG for finding them worthy for the task ahead.
