Danmusa made the appeal when he led members of his team to visit the emirs of Gwandu and Argungu, Muhammad Iliyasu Bashar and Muhammad Sama’ila Mera respectively at their palaces in Gwandu and Argungu Emirate Councils in Kebbi State.

In Gwandu Emirate in Birnin Kebbi, Danmusa told Bashar that they were in his palace to pay homage and seek his blessings and assistance in mobilising his subjects on the dangers of smuggling illicit drugs and other prohibited contrabands in the North West Zone.

“Some people misunderstood Customs’ job, we need the royal fathers to enlighten them on our activities so that the menace of smuggling can be reduced or even eradicated,” Danmusa said.

He said Kebbi State was among the seven states in the North West Zone bordering Benin and Niger Republics as such there was the need for collaborative efforts between the NCS and other security agencies as well as mobilisation by the royal fathers to fight the influx of prohibited contrabands into the zone and the country.

At the palace of the emir of Argungu, the coordinator made similar request.

The monarchs expressed delight over the visit and urged the team to always exercise their civic responsibilities under the ambit of the law even in dealing with smugglers.
