DAAR Communications PLC, a prominent media organisation, has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to sports development in Nigeria by donating football kits and accessories to the Edo State Football Association (Edo FA).

The generous contribution, made on behalf of the company’s management by its Chairman of the Board of Directors, Raymond Dokpesi Jr., is intended for players and officials in anticipation of the forthcoming FA Cup competition.

The initiative highlights DAAR Communications PLC’s long-standing dedication to fostering sports across Nigeria. Since its inception, according to a press statement released on Tuesday by the organisation, the broadcasting media outfit has consistently championed programmes that encourage youth participation in sport, facilitate talent discovery, and contribute to community development. This ethos was firmly established by the late, visionary founder, Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi OFR FNSE, whose passion for youth empowerment and sports remains a core pillar of the company’s philosophy.

“Today, this legacy is upheld by Raymond Dokpesi Jr., who continues to drive the organisation’s commitment to initiatives that positively impact society.”

The presentation also reflects the positive relationship between DAAR Communications PLC and the Edo State Government, led by His Excellency, Monday Okpebholo. This collaboration with the Edo State Football Association marks the beginning of a wider initiative, recognising the warm goodwill and cooperation extended to the organisation.

During the presentation, Raymond Dokpesi Jr., represented by a management delegation led by the Head of Corporate Communications and Planning, reaffirmed the organisation’s belief in the transformative power of sport. He emphasised that football and sport in general serve as powerful tools for engaging young people, instilling discipline, promoting national unity, and unearthing future champions who will bring pride to their communities and the nation. He expressed hope that the donated kits would make a modest but meaningful contribution to the ongoing development of football in Edo State.

In response, Fred Erhunmwunse, Chairman of the Edo State Football Association, along with Board members and other stakeholders, expressed their delight at the gesture. He described it as a welcome and historic show of support for football development in the state, noting it was the first donation of its kind since he assumed office.

Mr Erhunmwunse commended DAAR Communications PLC’s Chairman and management for what he termed a “great partnership,” and voiced optimism for deeper future collaboration between the organisation and the football association. He also urged other stakeholders and corporate entities to embrace similar initiatives aimed at supporting grassroots football and sports development in Edo State.
