Its interim committee chairman, Justice Khadi Muhammad Sagir Abubakar, stated this in Bauchi at the weekend when he conducted members round Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi’s plot of the land cleared by the association as part of its effort to start rebuilding the oldest school in Bauchi.

Sagir said the committee secured and obtained all the approvals needed to commence the building from the relevant government agencies.

Also, the chairman of the building subcommittee of the association, Mallam Lawal Muhammed Bajoga, explained that the committee intended to build eight classroom blocks upstairs, with offices, toilets, a computer room, a Mosque, and an Assembly Hall, at the first phase of the project. The project’s second phase will consist of hostel accommodation, toilets, and staff quarters.

He solicited members’ contributions, including donations from philanthropists and well-to-do individuals, to donate towards the project’s success.

The chairman of Markaz Old Boys Association, Mallam Ahmed Mohammed, said that the desire to set up the interim committee to investigate the challenges facing the association was part of an effort to reposition the association.

Ahmed said, “The committee was set up to look into how to repair the weak and old building of the school that was collapsing, to find a way to preserve the audio and video Tafsir, sermon, and preaching of Maulana Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi for over five decades, and to find a way to help the association boost its financial standing and become self-reliant.”

Ahmed said Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi is expected to perform the groundbreaking ceremony of the building before the end of July or early August 2024.

The chairman of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi Foundation, Sayyadi Ibrahim Sheikh Dahiru, commended the old students for their zeal, dedication, and commitment to rebuilding the school. He prayed to Allah to help them actualise their dreams and reward them abundantly.

He appealed to the government at all levels, charity organisations, individuals, and Muslims to donate to the building’s success for Allah’s sake.
