The Nigeria Youth for Good Governance Forum has commended the appointment of Hon. Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC).

The transition in leadership took place at the NAIC headquarters in Abuja, where the former Acting MD/CEO, Mrs. Florence Onwuanuokwu, formally handed over the reins of authority to Danfulani.

In a statement issued following the handover, chairman of the group, Dr Umar Usman, described the appointment as a timely and strategic move, hailing Danfulani’s leadership qualities and commitment to public service.

The group praised Danfulani as a seasoned leader with the competence and vision to revitalise Nigeria’s agricultural insurance framework.

“This is not merely a change in leadership,” Dr Usman noted.

“It is a bold statement of intent—a signal that President Tinubu is placing visionary individuals at the helm of critical institutions like NAIC.”

He described Danfulani as a “paragon of integrity, competence, and dedication,” stressing that his appointment is a beacon of hope for Nigerian farmers and all stakeholders in the agricultural sector.

Dr Usman highlighted Danfulani’s strong credentials and deep understanding of Nigeria’s agricultural challenges, expressing confidence that his leadership would deliver tangible results.

“His track record speaks volumes. He brings a wealth of experience and a passion for progress that aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu,” he said.

The NAIC, tasked with providing insurance cover for farmers against natural disasters, pests, and market volatility, is a vital institution for safeguarding agricultural livelihoods.

Under Danfulani’s leadership, the forum believes the agency will rise to meet emerging challenges and introduce innovative solutions that support agribusiness and national food security.

“We are confident that NAIC will become a catalyst for resilience and growth in agriculture,” the statement added.

The group also urged farmers, cooperatives, financial institutions, and development partners to support Danfulani’s leadership as he embarks on this critical mission.

“To the farmers of Nigeria, we say: you have a champion who understands your struggles and is committed to protecting your interests.”

Dr Usman further commended President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle, for their roles in Danfulani’s appointment, describing it as a reflection of their commitment to national development.

The Forum concluded by reaffirming its support for Hon. Danfulani and President Bola Tinubu’s broader vision of economic transformation through agriculture.

“Leadership is about inspiring hope and building a legacy. With Hon. Danfulani at NAIC, we are confident Nigeria’s agricultural sector is in safe hands,” it stated.
