Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has debunked reports suggesting that Dangote Refinery was reselling crude oil because its crude distillation unit (CDU) was faulty.

But, in a press release dated Saturday, July 27, 2024, and signed by the Group Chief, Branding and Communication Officer, Anthony Chiejina, the company addressed and refuted the allegations.

The statement read: “Our attention has been drawn to a misleading report suggesting that our refinery’s crude distillation unit (CDU) is experiencing issues and that we are reselling crude oil.”

Dangote Industries emphasised the operational efficiency and full functionality of Refinery’s CDU, stating unequivocally: “We categorically deny these claims. The Dangote Refinery is not authorised to sell crude oil purchased from Nigeria, and our CDU is fully operational and functioning optimally.”

The company further urged the public to dismiss the “false narratives,” which they attributed to interests opposing the local refining of fuels. “We advise the public to disregard these false narratives, which are likely driven by interests opposed to the local refining of fuels,” the statement added.
