In a powerful contribution to the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, Daurama Foundation has set to debut Voices Within, a moving short film that addresses the profound impact of domestic violence.
Set to premiere on November 30 at 4:00 pm at Silverbird Cinema, Jabi Lake Mall, Abuja, Voices Within forms part of the Foundation’s campaign to raise awareness about gender-based violence.
In a statement issued by the foundation, the film, produced by Take 7 Media and directed by Bem Pever with a screenplay by Mahdi Eldaw and Emil Garuba, follows a young girl who witnesses abuse at home and finds strength through writing. It also tells the story of her mother, a survivor facing unique challenges due to a disability from childhood.
Featuring Nigerian talents like Grace Daudu, Mbasity Jesse, Tolu Asanu, and Franca Igwe, the film amplifies silenced voices and calls audiences to stand against violence.
Executive Producer and Chair of Daurama Foundation, Dr Samira Buhari highlighted the film’s role in empowering women and mobilizing communities.
“Voices Within not only raises awareness but inspires change. We invite the public to join us in saying ‘no more’ to gender-based violence,” Dr Buhari said.
Daurama Foundation, a Nigerian NGO, supports the rights of women and girls and improves health outcomes through education, community outreach, and survivor resources. Voices Within calls on communities to unite against domestic and gender-based violence.
