In a landmark announcement, the De Imperial Philanthropic Family, a distinguished non-governmental organization with a mission to uplift underprivileged communities, has unveiled a ₦400 million scholarship initiative.
This groundbreaking program was designed to transform the lives of underprivileged students and provide them with access to quality education.
Under the visionary leadership of the organization’s President, High Chief Dr. Darlington Nwabunike, also known as Eze Nwakaibeya Ogbabalu Aku N’Anwu Ojoto, the De Imperial Philanthropic Family is setting a new standard in philanthropy and educational support.
The NGO said the initiative was a testament to their commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of the less-privileged.
The scholarship initiative is a result of a strategic partnership with the renowned Best Brain Contest organization, known for its integrity and successful execution of educational programs and scholarship examinations. Together, they plan to provide educational opportunities to underprivileged students across Nigeria’s South-eastern States.
The initiative’s core feature is the exclusive scholarship exams tailored for Junior Secondary School 1 (J.S.1) students in the South-East Nigeria. These exams will be held in each state capital, ensuring inclusivity and broad outreach. Awka represents Anambra, Enugu for Enugu State, Abakaliki for Ebonyi, Umuahia for Abia, and Owerri for Imo, with each location hosting the scholarship examinations.
A total of 250 students will be selected to benefit from the De Imperial Philanthropic Family’s scholarship scheme, with 50 students chosen from each of the five South-eastern states. This opportunity will not only provide them with access to education but also the means to break free from the cycle of poverty.
The scholarship initiative has an ambitious goal at its core: to uplift 1000 students from underprivileged backgrounds in the southeastern states. It encompasses comprehensive support, covering educational expenses from Junior Secondary School 1 (J.S.1) to Senior Secondary School 3 (S.S.3). This support includes funding for school fees, essential writing materials, WAEC fees for both Junior and Senior levels, and JAMB fees, easing the financial burden on the students and their families.
Hon. Frank Igbojindu, known as Akpoazaa, the Chief Executive Officer of the Best Brain Contest, has expressed his enthusiastic support for this noble cause. He highlighted the organization’s commitment to nurturing the talents and potential of young minds in the South Eastern region, underscoring the importance of education as a tool for personal and societal transformation.
What makes this initiative particularly noteworthy is that it is not just a one-time effort. The De Imperial Philanthropic Family envisions an enduring commitment to education and the well-being of underprivileged students. They have long-term plans to continue this program annually, with the aim of reaching a remarkable 1000 beneficiaries within a span of four years. This visionary approach promises to provide thousands of deserving children with the opportunity for a brighter and more prosperous future.
The scholarship examinations are scheduled to begin in November 2023, starting in Anambra state on November 18, 2023, at St. John of God Secondary School in Awka. This event marks the beginning of a transformative educational journey for 250 fortunate students in the South-East, offering them a chance to escape the hardships of poverty and embrace a brighter future through the power of education.
The De Imperial Philanthropic Family’s unwavering dedication to education and the well-being of underprivileged students is indeed a beacon of hope. Their commitment sets an inspiring example for philanthropy and community development, one that is poised to resonate and make a lasting impact for years to come.
