A deaf and dumb man, identified as Sunday Alabi has been arrested by the police in Ekiti state for killing a farmer.

The sad incident occurred at Ipole Farm Settlement, Agbado Ekiti, in Ayekire Local Council Development Area, Tuesday evening.

Alabi, it was gathered, had allegedly attacked the late farmer, identified as Sikiru who challenged him for stealing his farm produce.

Sources close to the community told journalists in Ado Ekiti yesterday that the farmer was killed by the deaf and dumb man after he was caught in the act on the farmland.

“The deaf and dumb man had on the fateful day, gone to the farm of Sikiru, to steal some farm produce, and when Sikiru had the effrontery of coming out to question why he had been stealing his farm produce overtime, the deaf and dumb suspect, Alabi became violent, and attacked him with deep machete cut on his head.”

The attack, it was learnt, left the head of the victim, almost chopped off.

“The victim was drenched in the pool of his own blood, after being attacked, his agonising cries for help, were heard by other nearby farmers who stormed the scene, rounded him up, and later called police attention.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Ekiti State Command, DSP Sunday Abutu
confirmed the incident, and the arrest of the culprit.

Abutu said the police had commenced an investigation into the incident.
