The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos has welcomed Hon. Rahman Owokoniran, the leader of the Lagos PDP coalition.
Owokoniran was joined by key members of the Lagos PDP coalition, including Chief Onita Coker, Hon. Kayode Jacobs, Dr. Tai Oyekan, Hon. Steven Olanrewaju, Hon. Hakeem Kolawole Olanrewaju, and Prince Segu Adeyeye, who all joined the ADC coalition, at a significant ceremony held at the ADC office in Ikeja, Lagos.
Owokoniran’s transition from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ADC generates lively discussions within Nigeria’s political landscape.
The event also featured prominent attendees, such as Mabel Oboh, the former National Publicity Secretary of the party and ADC Edo 2020 governorship candidate.
Owokoniran and the team’s move is seen as a pivotal opportunity for the ADC, potentially encouraging other dissatisfied PDP members to follow suit.
George Ashiru, the ADC Lagos Chairman, along with members of the State Working Committee (SWC), expressed heartfelt support for Owokoniran’s decision. They emphasised that his extensive experience and expertise will not only strengthen the party’s presence in Lagos State but will also resonate positively with the community. They firmly believe that his leadership will bring about meaningful change and development in Lagos.
In his acceptance remarks, Owokoniran expressed his gratitude to the ADC leadership and members for their warm reception. He reaffirmed his commitment to working with the party to create a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria, stressing his intention to advance the party’s principles and goals.
Owokoniran’s affiliation with the ADC marks a promising step forward for the party, as his political background is expected to bolster its presence in the area.
The ADC’s endorsement of Owokoniran and the PDP members accompanying him is viewed as a crucial move to elevate the party’s profile in Lagos State. His leadership is anticipated to play a significant role in shaping the party’s future narrative and communication strategy.
Hon. Rahman Owokoniran is an experienced politician with a diverse administrative history. He previously served as a commissioner during Bola Tinubu’s administration, where he received commendation for his considerable contributions. Owokoniran also held the position of PDP South West Secretary and has been instrumental in the party’s growth in the region.
His integration into the ADC is expected to profoundly impact the party’s trajectory. With his extensive background, he is well-positioned to effectively convey the party’s vision and enhance its engagement with the electorate. As ADC aims for expansion and increased influence in Lagos State, Owokoniran’s leadership will be pivotal in guiding the party’s strategic communication and overall objectives.
Overall, Owokoniran’s choice to align with the ADC marks a significant achievement for the party’s coalition. His extensive experience and leadership abilities are viewed as important resources that will probably contribute to building a more robust presence for the ADC in Lagos State.
