Citing recent successes and exploits by the Nigerian military in the fight against insecurity, a group, Rising-Up for a United Nigeria (RUN) has hailed the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa and urged him to sustain the feats.
It described the synergy among the different services of the military under Musa as unprecedented.
RUN, a national civil society organisation (CSO) with interest in fighting insecurity, corruption and institutionalising good governance has over the years engaged the Nigerian military and other security agencies in the area of tackling insecurity with fruitful outcomes.
In a press release issued to journalists in Abuja, the convener of RUN, Ambassador Solomon Adodo and secretary, Mallam Suleiman Musa, listed some of the laudable feats of the Nigerian military including the decimating of the notorious bandit, Alhaji Dogon Gide and scores of bandits, describing it as legendary and unprecedented.
Adodo said, “For the first time in the history of Nigeria, there has been a topnotch synergy between the military, thanks to the professional handiwork and battlefield acumen of Gen. Christopher Musa. We are thrilled to be part of this history as staunch advocates for increased security spending, intelligence gathering and sharing. At last, Nigeria is winning and we are all winning.
“In the last couple of weeks alone and in collaboration with the Army, the Nigerian Air Force carried out precision attacks on terrorists in Borno State, killing scores of terrorists and liberating their strongholds.
Similar strikes also led to the elimination of scores of notorious terrorists who have been terrorising and inflicting huge casualties on officers and men of the Nigerian military as well as civilians. It will therefore, be selfish if we fail to appreciate this illustrious military General and his exploits.”
On the release of the Kuriga schoolchildren in Chikun local government area of Kaduna State, the group attested to the swiftness with which the military successfully engaged and secured the hostages which has placed them among the best military forces worldwide in terms of specialised hostage recovery operations.
“The Nigerian military had been known for exploits and bravery but what we have witnessed with the release of the Kaduna School children is beyond ordinary.
There is no military anywhere around the world that can match the prowess of our military in terms of this elite operation and we are proud of Gen Musa for leading the battle against all forms of crimes threatening the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country,” he added.
